An ingrown hair is a hair that curls back and starts growing into the follicle and stays embedded into the skin. From this razor bumps appear and they burn, itch, and can cause scarring and make shaving virtually impossible.  Sometimes shaved hair gets trapped inside the follicle as well and grows back into the skin.  A lot of times men’s facial  hair is very coarse and thick and when it gets embedded into the skin it can  result in unsightly, gross looking bumps.

Be sure to cleanse the area properly and exfoliate.  Get rid of  dead skin cells, built up oils  and dirt.  This will begin to lift the hair.  Daily application with a bump treatment product (with active ingredients)  will begin to treat this area so that the hair will grow out and away from the face.

Soften the skin with a warm compress and press it against the ingrown hair.  Repeat if necessary or until you see the hair lift up  to the surface.  Use a sterile pair of tweezers and lift the hair up and way until you are able to gently pull the embedded, tangled hair up and out.

Never pinch or stretch the skin during the process to eliminate and avoid discolorations and scarring.  Be cool and take your time and don’t rush the process.

1) Exfoliating gently removes the upper layers of dead skin.  This is indispensable to manage ingrown hairs on a daily basis.

2) Use a liquid gel cleanser in a circular motion to dislodge the tips of the ingrown hairs and clear follicles.

3)Don’t pull the skin and lift the ingrown hair with sterilized  tweezers.

4) Follow with a post shave treatment and be sure to use a SPF to protect your skin when exposed to the sun.
